Historic Chicago Attractions
We are proud to be one of the premier hotels near the Navy Pier. Bringing in more than nine million visitors a year, we understand the legendary piers appeal.
A stay at The Penthouse at Grand Plaza puts you only a few minutes away from one of world’s most renowned piers and all of its family friendly and thrilling attractions.
Located off the shoreline of Lake Michigan, the historic Navy Pier was named so in honor of the naval veterans of WWI, and has since then gone through a remarkable evolution over its rich history. Originally designed for shipping purposes the pier has progressed into a mixed-venue open to the public and is a hub for retail, dining, entertainment, and culture.
Open daily at 10a.m., winter through summer, the Navy Pier offers a little bit of everything, from places to eat and drink, scenic views, activities for kids including a Children’s Museum, ice skating, and a firework display on Wednesday and Saturday nights during the summer and Saturday nights during the fall. Some of the more popular attractions guests rave about is the towering Ferris wheel and the notorious Chicago style stuffed deep dish pizzeria Giordano’s.
It won’t take long to realize why Navy Pier is known as the “the people’s pier” and is widely regarded as one of Chicago’s lake front treasures.
